IONIA, Ephesus. Nero, with Poppaea. AD 54-68. Æ (22mm, 11.24 g, 12h). Marcus Acilius Aviola, proconsul, and Aechmocles, magistrate. Struck AD 65. Laureate head of Nero right, facing diademed and draped bust of Poppaea left / Turreted and draped bust of Roma right; bee below. RPC I 2629 var. (Poppaea on left and Nero on right); RPC Suppl. II, p. 49. Near VF, grayish-green patina under a layer of earthen deposits. Perhaps the second known for this variant.
